MalMoun Project is a pilot for patients living with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, who are eligible for Mounjaro (GLP1). Their team knew the importance of providing a Lifestyle Medicine intervention, alongside the Tirzepatide, to provide a more holistic service with wrap around support which allows long-term sustainable changes once the GLP1 is stopped.

Patients sign up to group coaching sessions covering the 6 pillars of Lifestyle Medicine using the Lifestyle Medicine Accelerator (LMA) resources. They are also given a LMA workbook they can use to help them with their learning. The patients engage in exercise demonstrations at the end of each session.

The sessions are run by a personal trainer and supported by two GPs, whilst a wider team of the practice nurses and ANPs support with checking biometrics.

MalMoun has just completed their first cohort of 17 patients, the feedback has been outstanding and their results very promising (average reduction in Hba1c of 28 mmol/mol, average reduction in weight by 8.9Kg, average reduction in waist circumference by 7.8cm)

They are about to engage in cohort 2, for patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus who are NOT eligible for GLP1 and are given the same Lifestyle Medicine group intervention WITHOUT the GLP1.

We are looking forward to sharing more details with you as we get them in the near future.
